Tucson is host to several schools districts, the largest of which is Tucson Unified School District , which broadly encompasses the central portion of town from east to west.
The Marana School District includes part of the northwest portion of Tucson, including Continental Ranch, as well as Marana and Picture Rocks.
To the North is Catalina Foothills District 16, which broadly covers the foothills areas and to the northeast is the Tanque Verde School District 13 which includes the Tanque Verde area.
Sunnyside School District encompasses much of south Tucson, and the Vail School District services Vail and the southeast portion of Tucson including Rita Ranch.
Flowing Wells includes part of the northwest central portion of Tucson as does the Amphitheater School District.
Sahuarita is a growing community to the south of Tucson off of I-19 between Green Valley and Tucson.

Arizona is one of the leading states in the nation with charter schools. These schools represents various philosophies of education from Christian schools to schools specializing in a particular field to at risk children. The Arizona Department of Education's site allows the visitor to find a charter school according to specific criteria.
Exceptional Student programs are the province of the individual school districts and parents should use the school district's site for further information, although the state site does provide general information.
